On to a happier topic now. As I knew I wouldn't be able to spend time with my own mum today, I spent the time yesterday making a card for her. I have to admit in getting inspiration from a fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Cheryl Miller for the design.
When I make special cards I always like to make them a little bigger than the usual A6 size. This one measured about 7.5" square. I used a stamp set from Stampin' Up! called 'Beautiful Friendship'. I stamped many parts of it separately onto Whisper White card stock and fussy cut them out. I raised some parts using dimensionals to create some lift and texture. I finished the card off with a polka dot bow.
I didn't hang around to see my Mum open the card for the obvious reason. We had a very brief chat with her on the doorstep and me several metres away. My mum is a very resilient lady at nearly eighty years old but as she's a widow she's already struggling with the imposed self isolation. So many people are ringing her and checking up on her daily, which is heart warming. I have told her that we will all have a huge celebration when we can next get together safely.
Maybe we will all appreciate and value people far more than we do after this awful episode in life. If this doesn't stop and make people value what really is important in life, then sadly I don't think anything ever will. I'm ever hopeful that the world will actually be a better place when we're free of the virus. We just need to learn some valuable lessons and act upon them in the future.
Happy Crafting

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Laura, for not replying. I don't seem to get my notifications. Thank you for your kind words. When I saw Cheryl's card, I just had to make something very similar too!
