Escape to the Tropics

Another week, another FB Live last night. I got more adventurous  and created two fancy fold cards. One of them was very easy but it just looks more showy than a regular A6 card. It's called a 'Triple Panel Fold Flat Card' and it folds flat to fit into a regular sized C6 envelope. You can only get one card form an A4 sheet of card stock though, with some spare left over.

A4 Card Measurement, 26 x 14.5cm ( 10 ¼ x 5 ¾ )
Score on the Long Side at 7, 11, 15 and 19 cm. The panel for decoration can be any size you wish providing it doesn't hang over the edges once the card is closed.

DSP 2 @ 14.5 x 6 cm
Card stock Strips 4 @  14.5 x 1 cm
Centre Card Stock  14.5 x 3.5 cm
Decorative Layers. Shimmery White 9.5 cm x 7 cm
                                Whisper White   9.8 cm x 7.3 cm
                                 Early Espresso   10 cm x 7.5 cm.

I kept the decoration quite simple using Designer Series Paper from the Tropical Oasis Suite by Stampin' Up! I used a simple water colour technique to make the centre panel. I just used three different coloured Stampin' Write Markers on an acrylic block and then sprayed a fine mist of water over it. I applied this to our Whisper White Shimmery Card Stock to create the illusion of a sunset. I then stamped the palm tree image in Early Espresso onto once it was dry.

My second card involved a little more measuring, scoring and cutting, but it's not that difficult once you know how. It's called a Centre Step Card. It's easier if I show you the template that I made and just list the measurements. You can watch my FB Live to see how I made it.

Card Stock Measures 29.7 cm x 10.5 cm or (11 ¾ x 4 1/8") ( A4 length cut in half long ways). So you can make two cards from an A4 piece of card.

Place your card stock in your Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer with the length running downwards, at the ¾" mark. Lift the cutting blade and place it on the 1" mark on the cutting guide ruler, cut from the 1" mark down to the 6 7/8" mark.
Flip your card stock over and repeat this action. That's all the cutting done.
Next. place your card stock width ways in the Trimmer and score on the outside edges of the cut lines at 1", 2" and 6 7/8". Score on the inner panel( between the cut lines) at 5 7/8". That's it, you just need to manipulate your folds and then burnish well with a bone folder. Then it's the fun decorating part.

I used the soon to be retired Grapefruit Grove card stock as my base colour an decorated it with Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper. I chose the Ukelele image from the Tropical Oasis Memories and More cards to decorate the centre panel, and the pineapple one for my Live.  I just fussy cut around the image and applied it with Stampin' Up! dimesionals.

DSP Panels Measured... 2 @ 4 ¾" x 5/8"
                                       1 @ 4 ¾ x 2 ½"

I die cut a Whisper White circle from the 'Stitched Label Dies' from Stampin' Up! I finished the card with one of the stickers that come in the Memories and More pack and stamped the sentiment from the 'Timeless Tropical' stamp set.

Extra Project: I'm sure you're all aware of the fabulous fundraising efforts of Captain Tom Moore recently, and how he will be celebrating his 100th Birthday on April 30th. I have made him a card to send using the Triple Panel Fold Flat Card. Most of the products that I used are retired Stampin' Up! products, but after a little research I discovered that he used to be a motorcycling fan, so I created a card with that in mind.
