Love under the Dome

Well we're ticking nicely through February, I hope it's not too cold where you are today? It's lovely how the evenings are getting so much lighter now, I can finally sense that Spring is just around the corner. I'm dropping in today with yet another project made with the 'Parisian Blossoms' Suite. Are you getting fed up with it yet?
It's just amazing how many things that you can create with this awesome suite, I haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg yet! However I am going to put it away for a while so that I can play with all of the other gorgeous suites that I have recently purchased.

Today's special project was inspired by someone's work that I saw on Instagram, but sadly I don't remember who. They had created a 3D Eiffel Tower using the dies and they had placed it in a glass dome. It sparked an idea in me because I too had bought a glass dome from Ikea several years ago, in anticipation of making a Beauty and the Beast dimensional rose to place in it. Sadly, I never got round to making it. However, I struck whilst the iron was hot and decided to create a light up Eiffel Tower. Unfortunately, it's really difficult to capture it in photography, well by my standards anyway, but here it is.

I just created a TeePee card from vellum using 3" squares. There are many tutorials out there to use. I then die cut the Eiffel Tower three times from champagne foil card stock from Stampin' Up!The base was a bit more tricky, but I just cut a circle with a die and a smaller one inside to the size of a battery operated candle.  Then with an A4 length strip of card cut at about 2" wide and scored at ½" down the length and scored at every ½" interval so that I could create tabs.  I adhered this to the circle and just cut off the excess. I decorated it with the die cut words, flowers and hearts.
Unfortunately, it wasn't quite stable enough to sit on the top of the platform, so I made some tabs which I stuck to the vellum and then to the base. This helped it to stay put when I placed the dome over the top. I hope you like it, it's something a little different and I'm hoping to try it with some small battery operated LED lights when I get some.

Happy Crafting
