Off on our Travels

Who's up for some travelling? Not many of us can get away at the moment to foreign parts with the present situation, so we will have to keep dreaming and planning for future holidays. However, I'm sure some surprise goodies in this travel themed gift box would go down pretty well with the recipient. I loved the travel case box displayed in the Stampin' Up! catalogue on the 'World of Good Suite' pages, so when I stumbled across a tutorial from another demonstrator I jumped at the chance to make it. The demo was Tiffany Almeida from Pretty in Papercrafts. It was so quick and easy to make that I thought I would show others how to make it on my FB Live last night.

The box is basically one of our brilliant mini Paper Pumpkin boxes from Stampin' Up! I just used my sponge brayer and Misty Moonlight Classic ink to colour it. I used a strip of Speciality Designer Series Paper from the suite called World of Good which measured 12" x 5½". It was then finished off with the straps and buckles which are also from the suite. A handle made from Early Espresso card stock was added to the final make. To complete the quick gift box I just finished it with a simple tag tied with linen but you could embellish it further with some of the stamps or dies in the rest of the collection.

Earlier in the week, when I was playing with my new suite I made a card using both the stamps and the dies. However, for my FB Lives, I mostly try to keep the projects aimed at beginners or for people who don't have a die cutting machine (this could change very soon as I will have an exciting new addition very soon!! I'm so excited as it's arriving today!!). With this in mind, I tried to create a card that was similar to my original design but it didn't involve any die cutting. In my FB Live I explain how a few simple changes can be applied to a design if you don't have any die cutting facilities.

This was my original design and the one below it shows how I adapted it without using any dies.

I still kept with the heat embossing theme and then the water colouring over the top. This is called the Emboss Resist technique. Instead of cutting the long die shaped holes I just switched it out with some Granny Apple Green Designer Series Paper.
