Hostess Code

It's all in the blending

It's been a busy and hectic week with one thing and another, so I'm running very behind. Anyway, I thought I would show you the cards from my FB Live on Tuesday, better late than never!!

I took my inspiration for the first card from the talented Michelle Zindorf, I have admired her work for years. I did follow her tutorial initially but I just added some extra bits too! |She used the swiping technique most of the time to create the background. This involves swiping your ink pad across the width of your card.

I have to admit that I've never braved this technique before. There is a bit of a knack to it but all it takes is a little practice. I used the 'Timeless Tropical' stamp set from Stampin' Up! to create this beautiful sunset scene.

The easiest way to learn how to make it is to watch the demonstration, but here are the measurements for the different layers.

A6 Whisper White Card Stock Base.
Melon Mambo Card Layer 143 mm x 100 mm.
Whisper White card layer 123 mm x 83 mm.
Whisper White layer( for the decorated layer) 120 mm x 80 mm.
Scrap white for the flower and leaves.

My next card was so much more simpler but still involved a blending technique. I did have to use a die cutting machine and my rectangle dies from Stampin' Up! to create a mask so that I could blend and shade inside the aperture. I then stamped the dandelion image from the  'Dandelion Wishes' stamp set from Stampin' Up! I used the Memento Tuxedo Black ink. With the addition of a couple of butterflies from the stamp set 'Beauty Abounds'.

Measurements below:
A6 Whisper White card stock base.
Granny Apple Green card layer 143 mm x 100 mm
Whisper White card layer 133 mm x 90 mm.
Stencil/Template layer the same as above.

My FB Live Replay:
